Little Box of Quotes resumes

On Monday—after a 13 month break!—I finally resumed publishing the Little Box of Quotes daily podcast.

I had stopped publishing new episodes in April 2024 because I was no longer finding new quotes quickly enough to add to my collection to feed the daily show. I needed a new quote for every day, and after 1,400+ published episodes, I’d done every quote in my collection. I was doing the podcast production by working ahead batches, but that’ll still meant I needed a new quote for every day overall.

I recently rewrote some software so that the Little Box of Quotes daily email now selects the quotes in advance (instead of on-the-spot picking one for each day’s email.) That means I can now also pre-record those as podcast episodes. Now, the podcast can be published forever, and I can continue to add quotes to my collection whenever I find them.

As a bonus, I got something I’ve always wanted: The email and the podcast episode will be the same quote each day. Neat!

Why do I bother with this silly show? It’s a free source of fresh eyeballs on my other work: Last month (with no new episodes published in 13 months) there were 190 unique listeners to the Little Box of Quotes podcast. That’s 190 people who might see the show notes, and read more about me and my other projects. (At https://craigconstantine.com/ if you’re interested

What’s something you keep doing just for the fun of it?
