Anyone, I use music quite a bit in my podcast. I’ve used sounds I’ve recorded in the wild. Now I’m looking for a library of sounds. I’m willing to pay some, but rather not a subscription. Recommendations? @kristo, what do you use? ---

Thank you, @thearena (Linda) for the honorary 🥸 Yes, I’ve been messing around in this world for a while. Here are my best takeaways so far: \*watch your time— this can turn into a giant black hole, it’s fun and it cat eat your time Reminder: my content is historical fiction. Overall, the source that has become my go-to is pond5. I have pulled a few bits from free sights. Pond5 is not free and you can set your search parameters to include price and length of clip - start to build a file in a sub folder for music and foley - sound effects are reusable - this is the total pain-in-your-a\*\* bit—the search words you use may not align with the creator of the sound or the sites librarian so vary your words (e.g. bar, pub, meeting, party, coffee shop) I needed a chatty, all male voices contained environment background ambiance. One more note, when I was choosing my transition and introduction music, I put together a poll with sound snippets. One thing I gleaned from Seth while reading (and re-reading) This is Marketing, is it’s not my taste that counts here — it’s my audience’s. For me I used my Facebook private group as my Guinea pigs. As an indie author that is something I’ve cultivated. I was surprised by what they didn’t like and what they did. If you’ve developed a profile of who you want your audience to be I would ask a few people to listen to samples for you. I know this may sound complicated, it’s worth the time investment. I have my basic sound library (intro, outro, breaks) for my podcast that I’ve used for three years. It’s my signature. My cousin is a musician and we have a business arrangement. He’s created several tunes for me to use. I’m a musician and I use some of my own music as well. I’ve been thinking about some sound effects, inspired by @kristo. ---

@Lovelace I think you will love this film. I just interviewed the producer and director, Beth Harrington, for a future podcast. AMAZING story. She interviewed Johnny Cash three weeks before his death. His last interview really. The moment when Johnny Cash asked her, “Do you want to hear the real story, alright, here’s the real story”.
