# On podcasting and creators

[_Stratechery_](https://stratechery.com/) is a technology blog by Ben Thompson. He regularly writes deep analysis pieces on, well, technology.

Over the past year, he’s been building a new platform — software, from scratch — to enable him to coordinate selling subscriptions for his content. Members-only blog posts, access to his podcast, and more. I’m not suggesting you go buy his stuff (but you might want to), and his software isn’t, as far as I can see, ready to be used by others.

But it’s an interesting deep dive into how a content _creator_ should be able to control what they create. That’s what’s wrong with podcasting… well, one of the things… As creators, we’re at the mercy of the people who manage the directories.
