Hi everyone, I’m Ken from Magnolia Apps. I build The Podcast App, a free podcast player for iPhone, Apple Watch and Android. I’m posting here because this is the place for podcasting-related projects, and I’d value the view of people who actually make shows.
What it means for your show:
- It plays your public RSS feed as published. Search goes through the open Podcast Index, and listeners can also add a feed by URL.
- It renders the Podcasting 2.0 tags you already ship: chapters in the player, a transcript on the episode, your funding link and podroll on the show screen, and credited people per episode. Tags it doesn’t read are ignored, never rewritten.
- No app-inserted ads: the app does not insert ads of its own. Host-read and inserted ads that are in your file can still play.
- Smart Ad-Skip, on supported shows: known breaks are marked on the seek bar, and a listener has to tap to jump to the end of one. It is never automatic, there is an Undo, and it can be switched off. Breaks are skipped, not stripped from the file.
- OPML import and export, so a listener who switches apps keeps your show.
For listeners there is a free core player (subscribe, queue, unlimited offline downloads, speed, sleep timer, chapters, CarPlay and Android Auto, no account needed to start). There is also an optional AI layer called Podcast Brain that answers questions about transcript-backed episodes with citations. All features are free with usage caps, and $4.99/month only lifts those caps.
Two questions for you as podcasters:
1. How do you feel about a one-tap skip on marked ad breaks, given it never skips on its own?
2. Which Podcasting 2.0 tags do you ship that players still ignore?

Thank you for showing love for RSS technology. I’ve not had a chance to poke around, but I hope others here do.
In particular I _love_ that you’re providing an RSS validator.
…unfortunately, it won’t validate one of my shows’ feeds, [https://podtalk.show/feed/podcast/podtalk/](https://podtalk.show/feed/podcast/podtalk/) —I think because the feed is too big. (A lot of podcasters here have big, long show feeds.)
