Yes, contentious question.

But can we make a reasonable list and find a few great examples of each type?

## Types?

Over in the #pod-guide I’ve added a new section [https://forum.podcaster.community/t/examples-of-show-formats/3644](https://forum.podcaster.community/t/examples-of-show-formats/3644) _Host on Mic_ is one obvious type. What other types are there that should be mentioned to someone learning to podcast?

## Suggestions for each type?

A while back, [Podcasting Role Models](https://forum.podcaster.community/t/podcasting-role-models/931) came up (shout out to @Hoagie for that.) That topic and its replies are the sort of personalized suggestions I’d like to find for each type.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I’m told that there are only 2 types of people. One type believes that people can be split into just 2 types. 🤪
As for podcasts, I think they might be even more diverse than people! 🤣
scripted vs unscripted,
fact vs fiction,
unstructured vs structured,
comedy vs serious/boring,
monologue vs multiple speakers,
single host vs multi-host,
subject-focused vs general,
dramatized vs documented,
musical vs speech-only,
interesting vs Joe Rogan,
informative vs Joe Rogan,
valuable to society vs toxic/Joe Rogan, etc.
